A student in a session, an athlete in a grueling training, a worker at the end of the reporting period. What do all these people have in common? The need for a quick recovery of forces, a powerful charge of vigor. And the opportunity to get such a charge from energy drinks can seem very tempting. Moreover, manufacturers assure us that their new varieties bring maximum benefits and do not harm the body. However, from all sides we continue to hear about the dangers that the energy industry is fraught with. Who to believe? Let's try to figure it out.

To do this, you should pay attention to their composition. Knowing what is hidden in a bright jar, we will be able to understand what influence individual components of power engineers can have on a person.

The composition of energy drinks

The main components of various power engineers are almost identical for all manufacturers. Namely:

Caffeine. Contained in all, without exception, energy drinks. Caffeine can be replaced with tein or mattein. Basically, these substances have a stimulating effect on physical and mental activity, enhance the reaction and improve memory. At the same time, they lead to heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, arrhythmias. Doctors warn that the maximum daily dose of caffeine is 300 mg, and the maximum single dose should not be more than 100 mg.

Taurine. This is an amino acid found in muscle tissue. According to early research, taurine improves heart function. However, according to the latest medical data, it does not cause a significant effect on human health. In February 2009, the European Food Safety Authority published its study, which confirmed that taurine contained in energy drinks is not dangerous to human life and health.

Theobromine. It was established experimentally that theobromine is very close in chemical composition to caffeine and has similar properties with it. It is a strong stimulant and causes excitement of the heart muscle.

Melatonin Provides activity of a daily rhythm. It is taken to facilitate falling asleep and body tuning during long trips.

Carnitine. This component speeds up metabolism and lowers muscle fatigue.

B vitamins (such as B5, B9 and pyridoxine) positively affect the functioning of the central nervous system and brain.

Ginseng and guarana. These well-known medicinal plants have a general tonic effect. Traditional Chinese medicine claims that ginseng root medications prolong life and youth. Guarana leaves are used in medicine to cleanse the liver and prevent the development of atherosclerosis. The seeds of this plant contain up to 6% caffeine. They make pasta, which is used for medical purposes in several countries. Of these, caffeine is used, which is used to prepare energy drinks.

The composition of all power engineers contains a large amount of carbon dioxide (Н2СО3), which leads to the rapid assimilation of components and the onset of the effect, as well as the safe storage of the product.

When are energy drinks good?

Although some consider energy drinks to be evil, when used properly, they can become not only safe, but even beneficial.

The main advantages of power engineers:

● stimulate the nervous system and improve blood circulation;

● help get rid of headaches in case of overwork;

● improve memory and concentration (it is this property that students like so much);

● increase your attention and reaction speed, so if you have a long night trip, your saved life can be a good energy drink;

● cheer up;

● increase endurance at high loads, which greatly helps athletes in training;

● accelerate a metabolism.

In addition, energy drinks are divided into those that are dominated by caffeine and others that contain more vitamins and carbohydrates. So that anyone can choose a drink for their personal needs. And more convenient, in comparison with a cup of coffee, the packaging makes it possible to use energy in almost any conditions. In addition, the energy effect from energy drinks can last twice as long as from ordinary coffee and can be 3-4 hours.

When energy drinks harm

As a rule, reading the composition of modern power engineers, the harm from their use cannot be determined. Since the individual components do not pose a danger to humans as long as the dosage is respected, it is very important not to abuse energy. According to the law, manufacturers indicate on the package not only the composition, but also how much of the product is acceptable for consumption. Usually it is 2 banks per day. In case of an overdose, side effects can lead to very disastrous results, such as:

● Arterial blood pressure rises.

● Insomnia, irritability. Since all the resources for mobilizing energy forces are taken from the body, sooner or later they will run out.

● Addiction with regular use.

● High calorie content.

● Blood sugar is increasing.

● The nervous system comes to exhaustion.

● Tachycardia due to excessive stress on the heart with an overdose of caffeine.

The use of energy drinks containing guarana, especially including taurine and caffeine, according to unproven information, can contribute to the development of epilepsy in some categories of people.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that in no case is it permissible to use energy drinks in conjunction with alcohol or other drinks, which include caffeine. Almost five thousand cases of alcohol poisoning associated with the intake of energy drinks along with alcoholic beverages were recorded among American students. Doctors also found a fatal overdose of caffeine when a young man died from drinking coffee along with a non-alcoholic drink and an energy drink drunk within two hours. In addition, the use of energy stimulants is strictly prohibited for pregnant women, women during breastfeeding, children and the elderly, as well as those who suffer from various cardiovascular or chronic diseases, diseases of the nervous system.

Which conclusion follows from this? It cannot be unambiguously determined whether energy drinks will be harmful or beneficial. You should always consider the consequences that a drunk or not drunk jar of this “miraculous drink” can lead to. In addition, they can always be replaced with tinctures and extracts of natural stimulants, such as ginseng or Eleutherococcus, which in addition help to strengthen the immune system. But, if you still decide to resort to the help of an energy drink, do it responsibly. In no case do not drink energy drinks after sports and physical activity. Always read how the manufacturer recommends using its product and do not abuse it.
